The Kennebec Region consists of Kennebec and Somerset Counties. Augusta, one of the smallest state capitals with just 18,000 people, is found in Kennebec County and has many cultural attractions including the Maine State Museum, the State House and the Blaine House. In nearby Waterville, you will find Colby College, a well-known private liberal arts college.

Somerset County is Maine's second largest county in size, and borders on the north with Canada. Covered mostly by forest, Somerset county is renowned for its whitewater rafting.
